The ImageGrid 1500 server appliance was specifically designed to support secure storage and exchange of patient images as an alternative to a PACS server, as a DICOM router for sending images to specific radiologists based on “rules,” or as DICOM storage in an existing PACS system. Its specialized features include an appliance operating system with an optimized internal data path, an embedded database and DICOM services, and an industry-standard CPU and RAID in a 3U rack-mountable main chassis that supports up to 11.25 terabytes (TB), or with expansion units, up to 38TB of serial ATA storage. The ImageGrid 1500 also offers advanced information lifecycle management when used with the optional ILM software, embedded with Sony tape libraries. The newly released embedded Web viewer enables the 1500 to operate as a full-featured “lite” PACS, ideal for stand-alone diagnostic imaging centers and clinics, according to the manufacturer. The 1500 supports RIS, HL7 standards and is HIPAA compliant.
