Merge Healthcare re-acquired its China operations. The sale of Cedara Software Shanghai Co. Ltd. to Inqgen Technology Ltd., initiated by former Merge executives in March 2008 but not finalized, was terminated by mutual agreement of the parties.

Secure EDI joined an alliance of health plans, providers, trade associations and technology consultants who are collaborating to enhance provider and payer access to electronic patient information. The goals of the alliance are to streamline current systems for the verification of plan coverage and the adjudication of claims.

J.P. Morgan Healthcare Solutions and The SSI Group (SSI) formed a strategic alliance agreement giving both companies an opportunity to offer their claim and payment processing solutions to an expanded client base.

DSS Inc.
DSS Inc. is open-sourcing the code for its vxVistA electronic health record (EHR) framework. This effectively removes the greatest obstacle to collaboration in the VistA community by providing the software under a commercially-friendly open source license.
Avreo
Neshoba County General Hospital (NCGH), of Philadelphia, Miss., selected the Avreo interWORKS RIS/PACS system to increase efficiencies in the hospital’s diagnostic imaging department. The contract with NCGH brings the number of Avreo installations to more than 95 customers and 230 sites throughout the country.
MRO Corp.
Shared-service release-of-information (ROI) solutions vendor MRO Corp. expanded its ROI processing services for Mercy Health System of in Pennsylvania. Under the agreement, Mercy’s central billing office is providing remote release-of-information services for the distribution of billing documentation to third-party requesters.
Axolotl Corp.
The Utah Health Information Network (UHIN) selected Axolotl Corp. to supply technology and services to power UHIN’s clinical information exchange network, a statewide initiative providing clinicians with the ability to electronically locate, connect to and review, in an integrated manner, patient information scattered across multiple healthcare organizations.
IntrinsiQ
Hawaii’s largest cancer care provider, OnCare Hawaii Inc., selected IntelliDose from IntrinsiQ LLC to manage complex chemotherapy treatments across its four sites. OnCare Hawaii expects the clinical oncology software to help it standardize all of its chemotherapy orders and administrations as well as reduce the high costs and potential for error associated with hand-written orders.
Press Ganey Associates
Press Ganey Associates Inc. acquired PatientFlow Technology, a Boston-based provider of patient flow management tools and services for hospitals. Adding PatientFlow increases Press Ganey’s overall expertise in clinical and operational areas, and broadens its reach of consulting and improvement services. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Medicity/Novo
Medicity and Novo Innovations are merging. The united entity will be known as Medicity and will maintain its headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah, with offices throughout the U.S. including Novo’s Alpharetta, Ga.-based facility, which will serve as the focal point of East Coast operations. Merger terms were not released.
