Jan. 22, 2010

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Jan. 21 — Long Beach Medical Center, Long Beach, N.Y., ordered a CARESTREAM PACS, CARESTREAM eHealth Managed Services and a DIRECTVIEW CR 975 System from Carestream Health, Inc.

“One of the main reasons we selected the new CARESTREAM PACS was its suite of advanced native 3D tools, along with its modern architecture and proven ease of use,” said Gloria Monk, Administrative Director, Long Beach Medical Center. “These 3D tools will eliminate the need for us to purchase dedicated 3D workstations and will provide an efficient, streamlined workflow for our radiologists and clinicians.”

The hospital also signed a multi-year agreement for eHealth Managed Services to provide off-site disaster recovery services, and ordered a CR 975 system to complement an existing CR 850 system from Carestream Health.

CARESTREAM PACS equips users to access the preferences and tools they need for diagnostic and clinical reading anywhere, anytime. Native applications for the platform include 3D, vessel and cardiac analysis along with specialized tools for evaluating mammography images. The company’s newest PACS also features an innovative tool called PowerViewer that creates automatic registration and volumetric matching of 3D studies created at different times and by different modalities directly within the viewer used by radiologists.

Long Beach Medical Center is the primary health care provider for Long Beach Island and the surrounding communities. It is a comprehensive healthcare organization that includes a 162-bed acute care hospital, a 200-bed skilled nursing facility specializing in rehabilitation medicine, a certified home health care agency and numerous outpatient programs.

Carestream Health’s RIS/PACS platform can support environments ranging from a single provider to complex regional and national healthcare networks that include dozens of facilities. The company’s eHealth Managed Services (eMS) manages more than 12 million medical imaging studies—representing more than 500 terabytes of data—worldwide. The company operates eight data centers in five countries to serve providers throughout North America and Europe.
