PatientKeeper and NextGate form Partnership for Health Information Exchange

Feb. 25, 2010

BOSTON and ARCADIA, Calif. – February 24, 2010PatientKeeper®, Inc., the leading provider of Physician Information Technology, is working with NextGate to help healthcare organizations combine data from disparate systems to create a unified and complete record for each patient in their care. Under the new partnership, PatientKeeper will extend its core competency in connecting disparate systems by offering NextGate’s Enterprise Master Patient Index solution as an option for its customers. NextGate’s MatchMetrix™ Suite for EMPI will connect with the PatientKeeper Platform™ to provide a single view of patient information to enhance PatientKeeper’s Health Information Exchange (HIE) capabilities.

PatientKeeper technology is built on a powerful integration platform which connects a variety of different healthcare information systems both within and across organizations. Physicians adopt PatientKeeper because it offers a single software environment for all patient information that makes the day in the life of a physician easier and more productive, giving them more time to spend with patients and practice medicine across all sites of care.

A leader in electronic health record management, NextGate pioneered an EMPI software technology – MatchMetrix™ Suite for EMPI – that is able to link and match patient information, even if that information does not have a common identifier. Historically, patients are assigned a unique Medical Record Number (MRN) when they first use a healthcare facility’s services. In practice, a single patient can have multiple MRN identifiers, assigned by different departments or at different visits. The duplication across these systems needs to be overcome. With MatchMetrix, a single identifier correlating patient information from multiple information systems will be created; providers can then access data from disparate sources.  When MatchMetrix is connected with the PatientKeeper Platform™, it provides a single view of the patient to empower healthcare professionals to provide better quality of care.

“With patient information today residing across an increasing number of disparate facilities and systems, healthcare providers seek seamless Health Information Exchange. EMPI plays an important role in its delivery,” said Andy Aroditis, CEO of NextGate. “Through this partnership with PatientKeeper, we can ensure that even more healthcare providers and patients will be able to benefit from integrated patient identification.”

“We are pleased to be working with NextGate to bring a robust solution to advance health information exchange across healthcare communities,” said Paul Brient, CEO of PatientKeeper. “Improving the quality of patient care is top-of-mind for healthcare providers and we’re looking forward to further extending PatientKeeper’s workflow and connectivity software capabilities with the availability of NextGate’s MatchMetrix EMPI technology.”
