CareSource expands health coverage in Southeastern Ohio

April 6, 2010

Dayton, OH, April 6, 2010 — CareSource, a public-sector managed care company, is pleased to announce the expansion of its provider network in Southeastern Ohio through a partnership with Quality Care Partners (QCP), a physician-hospital organization (PHO).  QCP’s network includes hospital providers – Genesis Healthcare System, Coshocton County Memorial Hospital, Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center – and the most comprehensive panel of physicians serving Muskingum, Morgan, Perry, Coshocton, Guernsey and Noble counties.

“We are very pleased to be partnering with Quality Care Partners to provide broad access to care for our members in Southeastern Ohio,” said Pamela Morris, CareSource President and CEO.  “Together, we are creating a Health Care Home model that will deliver comprehensive primary care for our members and facilitate partnerships between individual patients and their personal physicians.”

The partnership will provide enhanced access to care for Southeastern Ohio consumers through increased member capacity at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and the addition of more than 100 specialist providers. QCP will partner with CareSource to provide quality management to its members and providers by assisting with credentialing and utilization management services for members living in select counties in Southeastern Ohio.

As part of this unique collaboration, QCP will incorporate CareSource’s innovative approach to patient care — the Health Care Home.  The Health Care Home model of care supports and facilitates partnerships between patients and their primary care providers by catalyzing and encouraging ongoing engagement, timely access to care, and improved health.  Developed with direct input from the medical community, this care model focuses on collaboration among the primary care provider, member, CareSource care managers and the entire team of health professionals and services available to each member.

“This partnership provides a unique opportunity for CareSource and the local medical communities to build an integrated system for the delivery and management of cost effective, quality health care.  By working together with a focus on prevention and appropriate, timely care, we can greatly improve the health of the communities we serve,” said Dan Sylvester, Quality Care Partners Executive Director.

Through this agreement, a comprehensive panel of local physicians, CareSource and the three hospital systems, will work collaboratively with Quality Care Partners to manage health care services for CareSource participants in the Southeast region’s Medicaid Covered Families and Children (CFC) and Aged, Blind or Disabled (ABD) programs.

CareSource is a non-profit health plan founded on the principles of quality and service, delivered with compassion and a thorough understanding of the Medicaid consumer.  By staying true to its mission of making a difference in the lives of underserved people by improving their health care, CareSource has become one of the largest and fastest growing Medicaid managed care plans in the nation.  Today, CareSource serves more than 829,000 Medicaid and Medicare Advantage consumers in Ohio and Michigan.
