U.S. HealthWorks Acquires Last of Central Florida’s Medero Medical Clinics

April 13, 2010

OCALA, Fla. – U.S. HealthWorks, a leading operator of occupational healthcare and urgent care centers in the nation, today announced the acquisition of the Medero Medical Caring for Workers Center in Ocala, its 12th location in Florida.

The acquisition expands the number of U.S. HealthWorks operated medical centers and worksite clinics to 159 nationwide.  Last year, U.S. HealthWorks acquired five of the six Medero Medical clinics.

The medical center located in Ocala at 1109 SW 10th St. (SR 200) provides occupational health services, including injury and illness diagnosis and treatment, preventive services, pre-placement and post-offer exams and testing, and return-to-work programs. Terms of the transaction, which was effective April 13th, were not disclosed. This is the first center for U.S. HealthWorks in the Ocala area.

“We are excited to expand our footprint in Florida with the acquisition of this center in Ocala. The superb Medero medical team is remaining on board with us and we’re looking forward to serving our clients and patients.” said Gregory Marotta, vice president of operations, east division with U.S. HealthWorks.

“The integration of the five Medero Medical centers last year into U.S. HealthWorks was very positive and we are pleased to see the final Medero clinic join U.S. HealthWorks,” said Cookie Dominie, manager of Medero Medical.

U.S. HealthWorks has acquired 30 centers since January 2007.
