NIH issues sole source PACS service agreement to Carestream Health

ROCHESTER, N.Y., June 15 — The National Institutes of Health (NIH) awarded a sole source PACS service agreement to Carestream Health. The CARESTREAM PACS is a fully featured platform that offers highly productive viewing, management, sharing and storage of medical images and information that can benefit healthcare providers of virtually any size.

Based in Bethesda, Md., NIH is the world’s largest clinical research complex and its Clinical Center is the nation’s largest medical research hospital. The organization incorporates 27 different Institutes and Centers, each with its own specific research mission.

In addition to the 6,000 scientists that work in NIH laboratories, NIH also funds 300,000 research personnel at more than 3,000 universities, medical schools and other research institutions in every state, and in other countries around the world. NIH is a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Carestream Health’s PACS offers a host of productivity-enhancing features including: a unified user interface; a global patient worklist; automatic registration of volumetric exams; and centralized storage and viewing of non-DICOM and DICOM data.
