HIMSS names CynergisTek’s McMillan chair of committee

Austin, TX, July 6, 2010 – CynergisTek, a leading provider of IT security services and solutions for healthcare organizations, today announced that its co-founder and CEO, Mac McMillan, was selected as chair of the Health Information Management Systems Society’s (HIMSS) Privacy and Security Steering Committee, effective on July 1, 2010.

As steering committee chair, McMillan will work closely with HIMSS members to provide oversight and strategic direction for HIMSS projects, policies and other matters relating to privacy and security issues associated with the exchange and storage of electronic health information.

For more than 25 years, McMillan has served in senior level positions in the security/risk management industry. Before co-founding CynergisTek, McMillan serviced as the national director for information security at CTG. Prior to that, he was the Senior vice president of e-security business development for Dolphin.com. McMillan also held the position of director of security for two Department of Defense agencies and the Designated Accreditation Authority for multiple sensitive worldwide networks and information systems. McMillan also served in the United States Marine Corps as a lieutenant colonel and intelligence officer.
