ACS, a Xerox company, signs $500 million contract with Allscripts to support EMRs

DALLAS, April 2011 – Affiliated Computer Services (ACS), A Xerox Company (NYSE: XRX), signed a $500 million, 10-year agreement with Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, Inc. to provide hosted information technology (IT) services for healthcare providers using Allscripts’ Sunrise Enterprise suite to support electronic health records (EHRs).

This relationship allows Allscripts to stay focused on developing new services to connect providers and patient information, while using ACS’ expertise in healthcare application hosting to help providers operate more efficiently and deliver better patient care.

Under the agreement, ACS will support clinical and EHR technology applications for the 96 providers using remote hosting services as part of their contract with Allscripts.

“More hospitals are turning to hosted patient records systems to keep it simple – use our industry and IT expertise to help adapt to new regulations and new services – while they keep their focus on patient care,” said Chad Harris, executive vice president and group president, ACS Healthcare Provider and IT Applications Solutions.

Other services Allscripts is turning to Xerox for include comprehensive data center and hosting operations spanning mainframe, server, storage, back up, recovery, network, and cross functional support.
