Carestream Health awarded U.S. government’s DIN-PACS III contract worth up to $45 million

ROCHESTER, N.Y., May 10 — Carestream Health has been awarded the U.S. government’s   DIN-PACS III (Digital Imaging Network/Picture Archiving and Communications System) contract. This contract allows the company’s PACS systems, sub-systems and components to be purchased by Department of Defense, Veterans Administration, Indian Health Service and federal civilian agencies. The contract for up to $45 million in purchases is in effect until April 27, 2013. Two option periods are available and may be exercised in accordance with the terms and conditions of the solicitation and at the contracting officer’s discretion.

The company’s PACS delivers a host of productivity-enhancing features including: a unified user interface; a global patient worklist; automatic registration of volumetric exams; and centralized storage and viewing of non-DICOM and DICOM data. It also converts proprietary image data into a vendor-neutral format that helps preserve data integrity and streamlines data sharing among authorized users and facilities at any remote location. Its open architecture interfaces easily with other clinical systems to expedite implementation of EHR/EMR platforms.

Carestream Health’s PACS is used by U.S. government healthcare facilities as well as regional and national healthcare systems and some of the largest and most prestigious healthcare institutions in the world.
