OHIT, GCCHIMSS and ILHIMA celebrate National Health IT Week

Sept. 14, 2013

September 16-20, 2013 — Chicago, IL — Health information technology improves the quality of healthcare delivery, increases patient safety, decreases medical errors, and strengthens the interaction between patients and healthcare providers. The Illinois Office of Health Information Technology, the Greater Chicago Chapter of Health Information Management Systems Society and the Illinois Health Information Management Association have joined together with other organizations across the nation to celebrate National Health Information Technology (NHIT) Week.

This year the NHIT Week theme is “One Voice, One Vision: Transforming Health and Care.” NHIT week is an opportunity for public and private healthcare constituents to work in partnership to educate industry and policy stakeholders on the value of health IT to healthcare consumers in Illinois.

“National Health IT Week is an opportunity to highlight our commitment to ensure health information technology is integrated, interactive and interoperable to provide the best patient outcomes”, said Janice Wurz GCCHIMSS, President. ILHIMA President Theresa Jones agreed, “Working together we can leverage the technology to promote the betterment of our healthcare system with quality healthcare information to benefit healthcare consumers and providers in Illinois.”
