AHIMA Board of Directors adds John Hoyt as Advisor

The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Board of Directors welcomes John P. Hoyt, FACHE, FHIMSS, as an advisor to the Board. Hoyt begins this volunteer, non-voting position at the May 14 board of directors meeting.

Hoyt served as the Executive Vice President, HIMSS Analytics at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) until his retirement in 2016. He has more than 20 years of executive committee leadership experience in healthcare, including consultancy work with IBM Healthline Services and First Data Health Systems Group, and over 22 years of experience in hospitals and health systems encompassing both the CIO and COO roles.

While with HIMSS Analytics, Hoyt was responsible for the leadership and direction of the organization’s Stage 6 and Stage 7 validations and derivative research. He is currently a consultant to HIMSS Analytics and works primarily with revised acute care Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM) standards.

Hoyt will serve a one-year, non-voting term as advisor with the option for board reappointment two additional times for a total of three years.
