NAACOS and ACO Leaders Express Distress Over Just-Announced MSSP Application Deadline

The announcement on Thursday, January 10 by senior officials at the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) that the agency will require participants in the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) will be required to submit applications to the new Pathways to Success part of the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) by February 19, has roiled accountable care organization (ACO) leaders nationwide.

The leaders of the ACOs participating in the Medicare Shared Savings Program say the Feb. 19 deadline to apply for participation in 2019 allows insufficient time to respond.
