UMass Memorial Connects Patient Records

UMass Memorial Health Care, a five-hospital system based in Worcester, Mass., is implementing a system from Pittsburgh-based dbMotion to create an interoperable single electronic patient record across different IT environments and care areas.

The solution will integrate various systems at UMass Memorial, including the Meditech EMR, Allscripts' ambulatory EMR, Initiate Systems' EMPI, the IDX Registration System and community pharmacy information from SureScripts-RxHub.

UMass Memorial is the largest integrated healthcare system in Central and Western Massachusetts and is the clinical partner of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Its 1,101-bed network includes UMass Memorial Medical Center, with three campuses and its four community hospitals: Clinton Hospital, HealthAlliance Hospital, Marlborough Hospital and Wing Memorial Hospital. The network also includes community physician-based practices, home health, hospice, rehabilitation and behavioral health services.

Pa. Hospitals Target HAIs

Nine Pennsylvania hospitals are implementing Sentri7 from Bellevue, Wash.-based Pharmacy OneSource, Inc. to improve infection control and prevention in their facilities.

Sentri7 is a surveillance system that continuously analyzes data stored in disparate clinical information systems and highlights at-risk patients in a password-protected dashboard, aiding in early intervention, according to the company. The dashboard is organized to assist staff with the goal of reducing infections for more patients.

The solution can also assist in state-mandated public reporting of infections. Hospitals that are adopting Sentri7 include: Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, Easton Hospital, Phoenixville Hospital, Brandywine Hospital, Chestnut Hill Health System, Jennersville Regional Hospital, Berwick Hospital Center, Lock Haven Hospital, and Sunbury Community Hospital.

According to the company, the solution supports all types of DICOM 3.0 medical images and diagnostic results, including DICOM-encapsulated images, reports, waveforms and pdfs.

Ochsner installed a mirror data center at a remote location to enable continuous access to systems and data in the event of a disaster, the company adds.

Ochsner Health System is a non-profit, academic, multi-specialty delivery system that includes seven hospitals and over 35 health centers located throughout Southeast Louisiana.
