Annapolis, Md.-based eTelemetry, Inc. has released Locate 4.0, the latest version of its network appliance. Locate enables network managers to pinpoint and react to network issues by discovering the physical location, switch port, department, name, and phone number of the person behind an IP address, according to the company. Locate 4.0 is a plug-and-play appliance that gives network managers a picture of who is using the network.
PatientKeeper Dotes on Doctors
Boston-based PatientKeeper, Inc. has unveiled its Physician Information System. The system is intended to support a physician's entire day — across different care settings, multiple organizations, and disparate information systems. The system allows physicians to access their patients' electronic records, write prescriptions, enter charges for services, place orders, and securely send messages to other caregivers in a single integrated environment.
Advisen Assumes Liability
Advisen (Chicago) has introduced claims benchmarking for hospital professional liability. The Advisen solution enables healthcare underwriters, brokers and risk managers to benchmark hospital claims against similar entities to evaluate and maintain risk management programs, according to the company. The solution allows contributing subscribers to contrast similar claims at the system or facility level against a peer group defined by type of facility, size, organizational structure and geographic location.
Alpha Gets Backup
Huntingdon Valley, Pa.-based Alpha Systems, a provider of EMR services, electronic document management and imaging, has introduced EMR Back-Up Manager. The new service provides hospitals with the capture and storage functionality for electronic medical records that meets stringent legal and risk management requirements, according to the company. Alpha Systems now works with hospitals and risk management professionals to determine their specific legal requirements and which parts of the record set to back up for future use, the company stated.
Ekahau Intros RTLS
Ekahau Inc. (Saratoga, Calif.) has introduced its Real-Time Location System (RTLS) personnel tracking solution with alarm system. The RTLS integrates with existing Wi-Fi networks. Using the RTLS's Ekahau Positioning Engine 3.1 software and Ekahau T201 WLAN tags enables administrators and security personnel to track the location of tag-carrying employees via an intranet site on any Web-enabled device. The company touts the new alarm routing capability for employee safety applications.
Symbol's Service from the Start
Mobile computing product purchases made from Holtsville, N.Y.-based Symbol Technologies with “Service from the Start” contracts will now include all repairs for the entire device, including accidental damage to displays and keypads, at no additional cost. Symbol's coverage with “Service from the Start” is a three-year service agreement that includes a three-day turn-around for products sent to Symbol repair centers, Internet access to technical documentation and telephone access to support engineers, the company stated.
Expand Reveals Compass
Expand Networks (Roseland, N.J.) has unveiled Expand Compass platform — an application acceleration platform that integrates multiple technologies, and maps them to the corresponding business mandates. According to the company, a key initiative in the Compass platform is Expand's voice and data convergence capability, along with its quality of services feature, which can detect and prioritize IP telephony traffic, ensuring that it receives the quality of transport required for quality call performance.
Galvanon MediKiosk Module
Maitland, Fla.-based Galvanon, a subsidiary of NCR Corporation, has added a new module to its MediKiosk patient self-service solution to help streamline the collection and analysis of patient data for use in clinical trials, according to the company. With the new MediKiosk module, research facilities can automate clinical surveys and questionnaires through adaptive screening technology that generates additional questions based on previous patient responses, Galvanon stated.
Mitel Makes a NuPoint
Mitel (Ottawa), a provider of enterprise communications solutions and applications, has introduced the Mitel NuPoint Messenger IP Model 640 Release 10, a scalable platform for enterprises to forward, store and retrieve voice, fax and e-mail messages using a phone, pager, fax machine or PC, the company stated. NuPoint Messenger IP Model 640 provides an option for customers looking for higher scalability and resiliency when replacing Centigram Model 640 systems and other legacy voice processing systems, says Mitel.
