GHX and Neoforma Close Deal

Westminster, Colo.-based Global Healthcare Exchange, LLC (GHX) has completed the acquisition of San Jose, Calif.-based Neoforma, Inc. At the close of the deal, GHX stated it would immediately begin migrating Neoforma customers to the GHX exchange, ensuring all customers of both exchanges continue to have access to existing functionality. According to the company, the merger brings the total number of GHX participants to approximately 2,500 acute care hospitals, 800 non-acute facilities and 200 supplier organizations.

Allscripts Acquires A4

Chicago-based Allscripts has completed its acquisition of Cary, N.C.-based A4 Health Systems (A4) for approximately $215 million in cash and 3.5 million shares of Allscripts common stock. The acquisition doubles Allscripts' clinical software revenues as well as the size of its sales force, according to the company, while also expanding Allscripts existing product portfolio.

Flo and Welch Team Up

Flo Healthcare, Atlanta, has partnered with Skaneateles Falls, N.Y.-based Welch Allyn, Inc., a manufacturer of medical products and solutions, to integrate Welch Allyn software and devices into the Flo 4000 cart-based mobile clinical workstation. According to the companies, the partnership will connect devices such as the Welch Allyn Vital Signs Monitor Series 300 and Spot Vital Signs LXi device into Flo Healthcare's products.

Medseek Gains Access

San Diego-based Medseek and AccessPt Inc. (Ridgeland, Miss.) have merged. Adopting the name Medseek, the merged companies plan to focus on the hospital market's demand for enterprise Web applications, content management and deep clinical integration, they stated. The new Medseek will offer an enterprise-class software tool suite for the construction of physician, patient, consumer and employee Web portals.

Misys Working with Cardinal

Misys Healthcare Systems, Raleigh, N.C., has entered into an Alaris Gateway Partner Certifications Program agreement with Dublin, Ohio-based Cardinal Health. The agreement enables hospitals using Misys' enterprise electronic health records solution (Misys CPR) and Cardinal Health's wireless smart infusion information system (the Alaris Network) to transmit infusion status information, patient monitoring, alarm data and patient ID information from Alaris Servers to Misys CPR via a dual access interface, according to the companies.

Mitel and Foundry Achieve Interoperability

Mitel, San Jose, Calif., and Ottawa-based Foundry Networks Inc. have completed interoperability testing between their respective Gigabit Power over Ethernet (PoE) solutions. The expanded partnership between the two companies focuses on simplifying the deployment of converged data and VoIP networks implementing Gigabit PoE, security, and auto-configuration, they stated. The companies are working together to simplify the deployment and configuration of VoIP in enterprises to minimize human error and maximize business continuity.

Personix/Remettra Reach Agreement

Stafford, Texas-based Personix, a business unit of Fiserv Inc., has completed a product license agreement with Little Rock, Ark.-based Remettra, Inc., a provider of electronic payment and remittance advice services for the healthcare industry. The electronic payment solution will be integrated with Personix Health Information Processing System (HIPS) and, according to the company, strengthens Personix's offering to healthcare companies by providing electronic versions of paper checks and remittance advices.

ShiftWise Schedules GroupCast

Portland, Ore.-based ShiftWise has formed a referral partnership program with St. Louis, Mo.-based GroupCast, LLC, a provider of voice broadcast messaging. Under the agreement, the two companies will exchange referrals of their offerings to customers in the healthcare industry. The agreement will expand both companies' existing market reach and give end-users new control over choosing the means of communication and alerting that best fits their needs, they stated.

Sliverlink Hooks Up With GHG

Burlington, Mass.-based Silverlink Communications and Gorman Health Group (GHG), Washington, D.C., have formed a partnership which pairs Silverlink's experience providing communications services to the healthcare industry with GHG's work delivering counsel, products, and consulting services to Medicare and Medicaid's private sector partners. The companies have been working together for nearly a year to deliver automated call solutions to health plans offering Medicare Part D products, they stated.

Zix and Surescripts Form Intent

Dallas-based Zix Corporation, a global provider of e-mail encryption as a service and e-prescribing, has entered into a jointly signed letter of intent with Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based SureScripts to work together to integrate and test SureScripts' new medication history service into ZixCorp's PocketScript e-prescribing service. SureScripts, a network provider of electronic prescribing services, is working with U.S. pharmacy chains and independent pharmacies to provide physicians and consumers with medication history for electronic health records.
