Not only are these new partners learning that there are cultural complexities to merging the efforts of their organizations, they are awakening to the need for formalized long-term development deals that involve royalty payments, governance boards and liability clauses. The Department of Defense requires information-assurance vendors to supply CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures)-capable products, but civilian security administrators have largely ignored the use of CVE as a reference, despite federally funded support for the resource and numerous vendor offerings.
