Breaking: President-elect Trump Says that ACA "Repeal and Replace" Will Happen "Almost Simultaneously"

Jan. 11, 2017
In a press conference held Wednesday morning, President-elect Donald Trump declared that, “almost simultaneously,” his incoming administration would produce a plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act

In a press conference held Wednesday morning, Jan. 11, President-elect Donald Trump announced that, “almost simultaneously,” “We will produce a plan that is repeal and replace,” that will propose the repeal of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which he referred to as “Obamacare.” Trump tied the introduction of “our” plan—presumably meaning, developed by his incoming administration—to the confirmation of his new Secretary of Health and Human Services. Trump has nominated Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) as Secretary of Health and Human Resources.

That announcement adds another layer of developments to the current situation in the U.S. Congress, in which Republican members of the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives have been debating whether, how, and when to pass legislation to repeal the entire Affordable Care Act, or at least some of its health insurance provisions.

Healthcare Informatics will continue to update readers on new developments in this ongoing situation.
