I received the following message through our Facebook page and was hoping to be of some service:

I have an Assoc Degree in Nursing, an active RN license and have worked in surgery and ICU for over 30 years. I am interested in getting into healthcare informatics so I am taking the course now for my certification. I am also looking into a bachelor program but have been unable to find one. My goal is to work as a Clinical Application Specialist in a healthcare facility.”

I have made a preliminary list of some institutions with healthcare IT programs that have made news over the past few months. If anyone can add to this list, or provide some other advice for our Facebook friend, please comment here. Thanks

Schools With Healthcare IT Programs (not a comprehensive list)

· Drexel University, Philadelphia

· St Petersburg College in Seminole, Florida

· Stevens Institute of Technology

· UC Davis Extension in Davis, Calif. Is offering a certificate program in health informatics. “Designed for those with prior experience in a health-related setting, the program complements the prestigious master's program at the University of California, Davis.”

· University of Oklahoma College of Nursing

· University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing

· University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, Center for Dental Informatics
