Healthcare IT standards development organization Health Level Seven (HL7, Ann Arbor, Mich.) is offering the first HL7 e-Learning Course covering Versions 2 and 3, and Clinical Document Architecture (CDA), starting in March.

The course will feature real-world exercises that instruct participants on how to manage projects involving interoperability among disparate healthcare information systems. It is designed as a self-paced, tutor-assisted model that will introduce participants into the concepts of healthcare interoperability, controlled vocabularies, and HL7 messaging (V2.x and V3) and clinical document (CDA R2) standards from the implementer’s viewpoint, says the company. Participants will learn why HL7 standards are necessary and when and how to use them, and will gain a better understanding of how messages and documents are built and processed.
