The Washington, D.C.-based Leapfrog Group is currently offering a self-administered survey that hospitals can take to determine whether their CPOE systems are catching medical errors.
Developed in partnership with First Consulting Group and the Institute for Safe Medication Practices, Leapfrog’s CPOE Evaluation Tool enables hospitals to see how well their system alerts users to errors and how they rate among the 1,300 participating facilities, says the company. The survey also includes risk-adjusted measures that evaluate how efficiently hospitals utilize resources for coronary artery bypass graft and percutaneous coronary interventions such as angioplasty, acute myocardial infarction and pneumonia.

The survey is currently open for hospitals. Individual results will be posted on Leapfrog’s Web site in July.
