Allscripts (Chicago) and NaviMedix Inc. (Cambridge, Mass.) have agreed to offer the Allscripts’ eRx Now e-prescribing solution to NaviMedix's nationwide network of more than 190,000 physicians.

According to Allscripts, eRx Now, a Web-based software used by physicians to write electronic prescriptions, will be offered at no cost to users of NaviNet, NaviMedix's free Web-based provider communications solution. In addition, Allscripts says NaviMedix also will also become an executive sponsor of the National ePrescribing Patient Safety Coalition (NEPSI), which offers free electronic prescribing technology to physicians.

The NEPSI coalition was launched in January to address preventable medication errors.
