Valley Medical Center (VMC) in Renton, Wash., has selected the GetWellNetwork (Bethesda, Md.) PatientLife System as part of a strategic plan to further engage patients and families.

The 240-bed facility serves more than 400,000 residents and is the first hospital in the Pacific Northwest to provide the solution to its patients and families, says the company. VMC says that it is the state's first public district hospital and is the largest nonprofit healthcare provider between Seattle and Tacoma.

VMC partnered with GetWellNetwork to improve patient discharge planning and education, enhance patient satisfaction and safety, as well as increase nursing efficiency, says the company. VMC is working with GetWellNetwork to create an Interactive Care Plan for total joint replacement patients to provide a virtual guide engaging them in the appropriate education and assessment stages throughout their stay that prepare them for discharge, the company claims.
