The Methodist Hospital of Houston is deploying Atlanta-based Eclipsys Corp.’s HealthXchange platform to facilitate the exchange of patient information throughout the local care community.

The secure platform, which is powered by Medicity, will connect Methodist’s acute care electronic record system with a network of disparate EHRs used at affiliated physician offices throughout the region, says the company. Eclipsys HealthXchange will also enable paper-based physician practices to receive and exchange clinical data via WebAccess email, it touts.

The Methodist Hospital in Houston is one of the nation’s largest private, nonprofit general hospitals. It is primarily affiliated with Weill Cornell Medical College and New York Presbyterian, as well as the University of Houston.
