The Chicago-based HIMSS Clinical Decision Support (CDS) Task Force is opening its CDS Wiki to the public to help organizations deploy clinical decision support to enable meaningful EMR use and improve care delivery and outcomes, it says.

The task force, anchored by six health systems consisting of 50 hospitals, initially established the wiki as a closed forum, with early efforts focusing on establishing best practices for implementing CDS to address specific performance improvement imperatives. One area of focus was venous thromboembolism prevention, according to the organization.

With the tool now open to the public, the task force hopes to engage additional participants in efforts such as clarifying how implementers can apply CDS to achieving meaningful use.
