Orem, Utah-based KLAS is releasing a report tomorrow regarding products like Microsoft Amalga and Carefx that bring together clinical information for disparate systems.

KLAS says a few of the key findings from the report, entitled, Beyond the CIS: Why are hospitals buying aggregation solutions?, include:

  • Hospitals are primarily deploying these solutions to put all relevant patient information at doctors’ fingertips, though reporting requirements, avoiding downtime and delivering information across care venues are also decision drivers.
  • For providers not yet engaged in CPOE, aggregation solutions provide a stop-gap to ripping and replacing core clinical systems for the sake of integration.
  • From a technology perspective, products from Microsoft and dbMotion have distinct advantages over other offerings.
