Houston-based St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System has expanded its use of Atlanta-based McKesson’s Horizon solutions for an integrated unified view of the patient, the company says.

St. Luke’s is implementing Horizon Expert Notes, which integrates inpatient physician documentation with existing clinical applications, such as CPOE, to help physicians more efficiently manage their workflow, the company says. Horizon Expert Notes enables physicians to create all types of inpatient documentation, including history and physical, discharge summary and progress, consult, operative and procedure notes. The company says the tool also allows physicians to choose how to create these notes by writing on tablet PCs, through dictation or speech recognition, or typing/entering information via customized structured forms and templates.

St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System includes St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in the Texas Medical Center, founded in 1954 by the Episcopal Diocese of Texas.
