The Office of the National Coordinator (Washington, D.C.) has selected Arlington, Va.-based Vangent’s HIE Open Source (HIEOS) as a default XDS.b enterprise service component within the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN) CONNECT Gateway Version 2.2, which was released in September.

HIEOS includes an implementation of Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) compliant Cross Enterprise Document Sharing (XDS.b) and Cross Community Access (XCA) profiles, says the company.

HIEOS is part of Vangent’s overall “open architecture” based health information exchange solution offered to federal and state government agencies as well as hospitals and regional health information organizations needing to exchange data across numerous mixed IT environments.
