San Francisco-based Practice Fusion is launching a free e-prescribing system for physicians.

According to the company — which provides a Web-based, EHR system — the e-Rx system will include: connection to over 50,000 pharmacies; a continuously updated medication library; same-day enrollment for most providers; ability to use e-Rx as a stand-alone feature or as part of the EHR system; free set-up assistance, migration help, training and support; refill requests delivered back to the practice directly from the pharmacy; prescription details delivered to the PHR online; and qualification for the Medicare e-prescribe bonus.

The service is available to any physician in the U.S. through Practice Fusion, with no installation or downtime required, it says.
