Starting this month, the VIEs will kick off with an eight-part series focused on distilling Best Practices for Management and Board Collaboration in Health IT Adoption. Each part will focus on a specific aspect of forging new working relationships among senior management and boards, including winning board of trustees’ support for major IT initiatives and the chief operating officer’s changing role in IT planning and implementation.
The first VIE, entitled “Make No Little Plans: Preparing For Complex IT Projects,” will be held Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. EST. The moderator is NAHIT Board Co-Chair John Glaser, vice president and CIO of Partners Healthcare System, and speakers are Herb Smaltz and George T. Hickman, authors of the book, The Healthcare Information Technology Planning Fieldbook: Tactics, Tools and Templates for Building Your IT Plan.
For those unable to participate in the live discussion, the forum will be available for reply at NAHIT’s Web site, www.nahit.org. When the series concludes, NAHIT plans to build a management model for senior leadership collaboration that reflects the latest thinking, practical experiences and best practices from the VIEs, it says.
