Oakwood Hospital & Medical Center (OHMC, Dearborn, Mich.) has implemented Redwood City, Calif.-based Aeroscout’s RFID solution to track the location of patients throughout the hospital.

At OHMC, 601 Wi-Fi-based Active RFID tags will be attached to patients’ chart-holders and accompany them as they move throughout the ten floors and two patient care towers of the 632-bed facility, says the company. The tags use OHMC’s pre-existing standard San Jose, Calif.-based Cisco Wi-Fi network, which is also used for laptops and wireless phones at the hospital.

Oakwood is a full-service teaching hospital in partnership with Wayne State University and is the tertiary hub for the three community hospitals of the Oakwood Healthcare System.
