Ekahau Inc. (Saratoga, Calif.), a provider of Wi-Fi-based real time location systems (RTLS), has entered an agreement with VeriChip Corporation (Delray Beach, Fla.), a provider of radio frequency identification (RFID) systems, to collaborate on wireless solutions for the healthcare market.
According to both companies, the agreement covers RFID-based healthcare security systems from Xmark, a VeriChip subsidiary, and Ekahau's Wi-Fi-enabled RTLS.
Ekahau and VeriChip contend they will collaborate to provide asset tracking, infant protection, patient safety and theft prevention solutions. In addition, according to the two companies, they will also design an integrated solution that combines RFID and Wi-Fi technologies.
