The California HealthCare Foundation (CHCF) has created an online report card that provides health plans with information to make decisions about which hospitals to include in their networks, and provide hospitals with performance information so they can improve care.

Funded by CHCF, CalHospitalCompare.org, compares the performance of more than 200 hospitals on a number of different services from pneumonia to maternity to cardiac treatment. According to CHCF, CalHospitalCompare was the first site to rate hospital quality of care, patient experience and safety measures in one place. The data is drawn from the voluntary reporting of a diverse collaboration of hospitals, health plans and other key stakeholders, CHCF says.

Additional intended audiences of the site are physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
