The Ann Arbor, Mich.-based College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) announced today that 23 of its members have earned the Certified Healthcare CIO (CHCIO) designation.

CHCIO status represents achievement of the highest standard of professional development for healthcare chief information officers and is the only credentialing program that distinguishes healthcare IT executives from others in the industry.

Created in 2009, the CHCIO Program was developed for CIOs by CIOs, with input from nearly 80 CHIME members as well as certification professionals at Castle Worldwide. By definition, a CHCIO demonstrates the commitment, knowledge, and experience required to master the core skills important for successful CIOs and IT executives.

In order to maintain the relevancy of the CHCIO certification exam, the program has assembled various panels and workgroups to perform annual examination assessment and new content creation to reflect current developments in the healthcare IT industry.
