The Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP), a multi-stakeholder group facilitating the development of interoperable healthcare data standards, is opening a four week comment period for two "Requirements, Design and Standards Selection" (RDSS) documents: Security and Privacy Capabilities for the Version 2.0 Biosurveillance EHR-Lab and Consumer Empowerment Use Case, and Emergency Responder Electronic Health Record (ER-EHR).
Once reviewed, these documents will form the basis of the panel's second set of Interoperability Specifications to be delivered to the American Health Information Community (AHIC) later this year. The RDSS documents define the requirements and design for the interoperability specifications and candidate standards for the AHIC-identified "use cases" relating to emergency responder electronic health records as well as security and privacy capabilities.
