Krames StayWell (Yardley, Pa.) has announced that it is enabling the ONC’s Direct Project messaging standards for its award-winning patient education system, Krames On-Demand. Leveraging the Direct Project encrypted e-mail functionality supported by Microsoft HealthVault, health systems will be utilizing Krames On-Demand to engage patients in their care by sending consumer-friendly education resources that can be stored in the patient’s personal HealthVault account. Patients can now have easy, 24/7 access to a repository of information created specifically for them, and in consideration of health literacy design principles, to better manage their health.
Krames StayWell plans to implement its first hospital client with the Direct Project encrypted e-mail from within Krames On-Demand later this summer. Work is also in development to incorporate the Direct Project protocols in other Krames StayWell applications ensuring security and interoperability across all touch points throughout the continuum of care.
