Vangent Inc., a Arlington, Va.-based provider of information management and strategic business process services, announced it was awarded a $9 million contract with the U.S. Department of Defense Military Health System to provide 24/7 production application support for the Defense Health Services Systems Program Executive Office. The contract has a five-month base period of performance, two one-year options, a three-month option and a total value of $9 million, if all options are exercised.

DHSS develops and maintains products and initiatives for the MHS in three major areas: clinical support, medical logistics, and resources. The DHSS information technology systems are deployed worldwide, from data centers in military treatment facilities, to the front lines of military and humanitarian operations. Under the contract, Vangent will deliver operations, security, and maintenance services for the portfolio of DHSS production applications. Vangent is delivering the support services based on the DHSS continued alignment to Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) as the process framework for governing operations of its applications and services to users.

Vangent is supported by subcontractors n-tieractive and ARCBridge, as well as partnerships with enterprise software companies—SAP, Informatica Corporation, and Fortify Software—an HP Company.
