The Utah Health Information Network (UHIN) has partnered with Rockville, Md.-based Secure Exchange Solutions (SES) to bring secure, user-friendly clinical record exchange to Utah medical offices.
SES has provided the software foundation for UHIN’s cHIE Direct, an e-mail system that combines a user-friendly interface with the digital security needed for clinical documents. cHIE Direct enables healthcare providers to securely exchange patient records for referrals, consultations, and hospital discharges, and to send claims-related documentation to insurers. cHIE Direct helps doctors provide more effective treatment for patients and expedites the physician reimbursement process by allowing the instant exchange of clinical information between physicians, hospitals, pharmacies and insurers.
cHIE Direct meets federal standards for secure electronic messaging and is interoperable with different medical record software, making it possible for users to exchange clinical information with other Direct users nationwide.
“We are pleased to provide our Direct secure messaging solution to power UHIN’s cHIE Direct,” Dan Kazzaz, CEO of Secure Exchange Solutions said in a statement. “SES Direct products are standards-based and easily scalable, so we expect a rapid adoption of Direct communications in Utah, which will lead to improved care coordination for patients throughout the state.”
