Staff shortages in healthcare settings are driving and will continue to drive the burgeoning patient monitoring device market, according to a report from Kalorama Information. 
The research firm indicates that the patient monitoring device market is expected to grow at 9 percent over the next four years. They point to predictions of projected shortages for doctors and nurses from the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services respectively as the major reasons for this driving need.
“Use of remote patient monitoring can result in more efficient use of healthcare resources, and with expected shortages in staff, stressed healthcare systems are looking at them.” Melissa Elder, Kalorama’s patient monitoring device analyst and the author of the report, said in a statement.
