Board certified in Internal Medicine and Clinical Informatics, Capponi has served as CMIO and a practicing staff physician at Cleveland Clinic since 2014. There he focused on using health information technology in innovative care models while promoting increased usability and safety.

From 2004 to 2014, he held roles of enterprise-wide CMIO and assistant vice president for clinical information systems for New York City’s municipal hospital system, NYC Health + Hospitals.

In this role at SCL, Capponi will oversee clinical information and technology systems to provide safe, efficient, high-value and highly reliable clinical care to SCL Health patients, and to improve the experience for providers and employees.

“Actionable data and information will make healthcare less expensive, more accessible and more impactful in our lifetimes,” said Dr. Capponi, in a prepared statement.  “I am excited to join SCL Health, whose leaders have a clear vision of service for patients and sense of pride in their organization. Together, we will work to simplify and streamline clinical information systems to support providers and empower patients to live their best lives.”
