HIMSS Analytics Set to Launch New Model for Health IT Adoption in Orlando

Sept. 10, 2014
The Chicago-based HIMSS Analytics announced on Feb. 20 that its leaders would be hosting a session during the HIMSS Conference on Tuesday, Feb. 25, to unveil its new Continuity of Care Maturity Model™, a model that addresses the adoption of health IT to support information exchange, care coordination, patient engagement, and analytics.

The Chicago-based HIMSS Analytics, a division of the Chicago-based Health Information & Management Systems Society (HIMSS), announced on February 20 that its leaders would be hosting a session during the HIMSS Conference on Tuesday, Feb. 25, to unveil what the organization calls its Continuity of Care Maturity Model™, “a global model that addresses the importance of information exchange, care coordination, interoperability, patient engagement, and analytics, with the ultimate goal of holistic individual and population health management,” according to a Feb. 20 press release.

That press release further explained that, “For the purpose of this model, continuity of care is concerned with the integration, coordination, sharing and usage of information between providers, government, individuals and others resulting in enhanced care delivery and improved patient outcomes.”

This new model, the press release noted, will not replace the HIMSS Analytics Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (SM), or EMRAM, which continues to delineate the stages of adoption for electronic medical records in patient care organizations.

The HIMSS Conference will be held Feb. 23-27 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

Healthcare Informatics will bring its readers regular updates on developments and events at HIMSS14.
