The Chicago-based electronic health record (EHR) vendor, Allscripts has announced it is partnering with Netsmart, an Overland, Kansas-based provider of behavioral EHR systems.

Allscripts is planning on integrating behavioral patient records, from Netsmart, into its systems. For Sunrise workflow system users, they will be able to view behaviorial health records, while Netsmart users will be able to view physical health records from Allscripts. For Allscripts’ ambulatory EHR users there will be full integration of Netsmart’s behavioral EHRs.

“Health care providers need innovative, pragmatic technology partners that can equip them to grow and thrive as they serve increasingly diverse clients in complex settings,” said Michael Valentine, CEO of Netsmart, said in a statement. ”Allscripts and Netsmart are well-positioned to equip providers with scalable solutions so they can focus on their own core growth and serve their clients in a coordinated care environment.”

Earlier this week, Allscripts was reported as being in talks with Apple to integrate the latter’s HealthKit service into the Chicago-based company’s systems in some capacity.
