Aug. 20, 2013
In part 2 of a two-part podcast series, Micky Tripathi, the President and CEO of the Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative (MAeHC), reveals the secrets to success with the work being done at the NH Regional Extension Center (REC). He also reveals whether or not his glass is half-full or half-empty when it comes to EHR adoption.

In part 2 of a two-part podcast series, Micky Tripathi, the President and CEO of the Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative (MAeHC), reveals the secrets to success with the work being done at the NH Regional Extension Center (REC). Recently, the NH REC announced that more than 65 percent the State’s primary care providers and 85 percent of its critical access hospitals (CAHs) have attested to meaningful use of EHRs. Tripathi says the REC has acted as a conduit to the providers themselves, and through direct funding, is supporting the efforts that had already been made on the ground. In addition, he says the REC was transparent with the providers and didn’t charge them anything.

“We turned the money over to them, rather than charging them,” Tripathi said.

The well known health IT spokesperson  also discusses why his EHR adoption glass is half-full. “If you just step back and see what’s happening, the adoption is beyond anyone’s dreams,” he said.

In part 1, Tripathi talked about some of the concerns CIOs and CMIOs were having over Stage 2. He dug into three specific requirements that have providers worried including interoperability and transitions of care via Direct Standards, requirements around patient engagement, and clinical quality reporting.
