The SSI Group one of the first clearinghouses certified by CMS as part of HHS Optimization Project Pilot compliance review

June 1, 2018

The SSI Group (SSI), a provider of revenue cycle management and clearinghouse solutions, has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Division of National Standards (DNS) within the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for completion of the HHS Optimization Program Pilot of Administrative Simplification transaction standards. SSI is one of the first organizations to receive this certification after being selected as one of three clearinghouses to participate in the initial round of this new HHS compliance program.

The HHS Administrative Simplification Optimization Program assessment process includes a review of transactions, code sets, unique identifiers and operating rules. A validation software tool is employed to determine whether HIPAA transactions are compliant with the applicable 5010 ASC X12 standards and TR3 Reports. In addition, it includes a manual review of companion guides and operating rule attestations.

This audit model is a cornerstone for the rollout of the Administrative Simplification Optimization Program. Universal compliance with the administrative simplification standards is projected to save the industry over $9 billion per year. DNS considers SSI’s compliance with the new transaction standards to be an essential part of reducing administrative simplification burdens to industry trading partners and covered entities.
