Hagland takes us through what the HCI editorial team looks for when parsing through submissions and how organizations can stand out. We also look at past winners like the New York City Department of Health and the Detroit Medical Center, and what they did to employ IT that not only made a difference in their organizations, but the industry at large.

 “There is so much exciting innovation going on in the field and it really is our privilege and pleasure as a publication to be able to showcase these stories,” Hagland says. “It’s time when everyone is trying to rush to fulfill the requirements of meaningful use and of healthcare reform, as well as the transition to the ICD-10 coding system, but at the same time, there are true pioneers going above and beyond meeting those requirements, and are creating innovations that can be replicated throughout the healthcare system. That’s what we’re looking for.”
