Genevieve Morris has been tapped by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) as principal deputy national coordinator for health IT.

Genevieve Morris, previously a health IT senior director at Baltimore-based consulting and technology firm Audacious Inquiry, has been tapped by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) as principal deputy national coordinator for health IT.

A recently-updated ONC leadership page on Morris says that “she reports directly to the national coordinator for health IT. Ms. Morris is a subject matter expert in health IT policy, program management, Interoperability, meaningful use, and the Quality Payment Program. She is experienced in understanding and interpreting federal regulations, including the meaningful use rules and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT’s (ONC) certification rules.”

The bio continued, “In Ms. Morris’ prior position [at Audacious], she worked with ONC in a variety of areas such as policy, standards and technology, and grant programs. Among her outputs were reports to support the State Health Information Exchange [HIE] Program, including reports on consumer engagement in health information exchange, provider directories, and query-based health information exchange. Most notably, Ms. Morris supported the development of the Shared Nationwide Interoperability Roadmap, including writing and editing portions of the roadmap. This important document provides guidance to all health IT stakeholders on the actions that must be taken in order to achieve a truly interoperable learning health system.”

Morris also was key in the development the test procedures and test data related to the meaningful use and Advancing Care Information (ACI) calculations. In addition, Morris developed the Health IT framework for alternative payment models (APMs), ONC noted.

Morris will report to Donald Rucker, M.D., who is now the National Coordinator for Health IT. Rucker’s leadership bio page is also now up on ONC’s website.
