The Southwestern Health Resources Accountable Care Network has saved the government more than $73 million over the last three years, including about $37.3 million in 2016, according to a report in a North Texas-based news publication, D CEO Healthcare.

The Southwestern Health Resources ACN, which includes UT Southwestern Medical Center faculty, Texas Health Physicians Group members, and independent community physicians, has 31 hospital locations serving 16 counties in North Texas. The network manages care for nearly 87,500 Medicare beneficiaries as part of its accountable care organization (ACO) initiative.

The Southwestern Health Resources ACO has consistently maintained a 95 percent or better quality score, while saving more than $6 million in 2014 (resulting in $2.9 million in shared savings); nearly $30 million in 2015 (shared savings of $14 million); and more than $37 million last year (more than $17.4 million in shared savings), according to the report, based on Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) data from 2016.
