Walgreens, the Deerfield, Ill.-based national pharmacy chain, is launching a direct-to-consumer telehealth mobile health (mHealth) app that will give consumers 24/7 access to a doctor.
To launch the service, Walgreens is teaming with MDLIVE, the Sunrise, Fla.-based telehealth vendor. The service, available to Walgreens website users, is starting off in California and Michigan with plans to rollout additional states and markets over time. It will be available for Android and iOS users.
Walgreens is part of a national direct to consumer telehealth trend. This past year, Google quietly launched its own direct to consumer telehealth pilot and others have done the same. Currently, Walgreens offers a 24/7 pharmacy chat for its users.
