Boston Children’s Hospital’s Innovation and Digital Health Accelerator (IDHA) has unveiled a mobile and web application called Dock Health, that it says gives clinicians and their teams a tool for managing the numerous tasks that are part of clinical care.

The app, built for iOS devices and the web, is designed to make it easier for clinicians and their support staff to work together to deliver more efficient and reliable care. Providers are buried in e-mails, Post-It notes and administrative tasks that contribute to clinical team burnout.

“Dock Health is a simple app to help get everyone on the same page, reduce dropped balls and help teams close the loop efficiently,” said IDHA Clinical Director and co-founder of Dock Health Michael Docktor, M.D. in a prepared statement. “Clinicians are clamoring for well-designed productivity tools that are secure, have patient context, and help with the challenges of communication and administrative task overload. Using Dock with my team has literally changed the way I practice and reduced my stress level tremendously.”

User experience designer Keather Roemhildt, owner of Architects and Schemers, is co-founder of Dock Health, which is currently being incubated at IDHA.

Dock Health received an accelerator grant from IDHA in 2016. The the app is being piloted in several Boston Children’s departments (Gastroenterology, Allergy/Immunology, Orthopedics and General Pediatrics) and external pilots are set to begin shortly.

Boston Children’s Hospital, the primary pediatric teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, is a 415-bed comprehensive center for pediatric and adolescent health care.
