
While there’s clearly no shortage of healthcare technology standards, interoperability struggles remain. FHIR hopes to change this narrative. The vast majority of other healthcare-focused standards have focused primarily on exchanging structured data and documents. FHIR, on the other hand, incorporates resources that are directed at exchanging unstructured information as well.
